Conference on Extreme Weather Events in the South-Eastern Alps: The initiative plans to pursue a better understanding of weather mechanisms, their impact on the environment, the capability of their forecasting and related implications. The meeting, financed by the Competence Center for Economic, Ecological and Social Sustainability at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, in collaboration with the South Tyrolean Meteorological Office, the Research Alliance for Sustainability in South Tyrol and the Federal Research Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape (WSL) in Switzerland, is scheduled for Dec. 16-17 in Bozen-Bolzano.
